Local Girl Scout Troop Complete “Journey Agent of Change” Project

Girl Scout Troop 21214 has been working on completing the Journey Agent of Change. Part of their project was to develop a list of signs and symptoms of Covid-19, how to stop the spread of the disease and how to help the frontline workers.

Also, each Scout member created and delivered five goodie bags to frontline workers. Frontline workers are anyone still working during the pandemic crisis. These girls have battled the adversity of not being able to meet on a regular basis to complete this project. Their troop leader, Malinda Schmidt commented, “All in all, they have done a fantastic job and I am proud of each and every one of them! These young ladies will do marvelous things as they continue to develop and grow into young women.”

Girl Scout Troop 21214 Journey Agent of Change Project:

What are the signs of symptoms of Covid-19:

• Fever

• Cough

• Shortness of breath

Seek medical advice if you develop symptoms AND have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or live in or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19. Call ahead before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room. Tell them about your recent travel and your symptoms.

How to stop the spread of the disease:

• Follow advice of government officials

• Stay inside

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash

• Donate material and elastic of face masks

• Sew and donate face masks

• Stay 6 feet away

• Only go to hospital as needed

• Give medical personnel a social media shout out

• Stay home if sick

• Only have one person from a family go shopping

• When you get home from being out, clean soles of shoes, shower and change clothes

How can we help the frontline workers:

• Don’t take extra masks, hand sanitizers or toilet paper from hospitals or other medical facilities

• Feed them (have a delivery sent to them, pick up a meal and drop it off to them or cook them a healthy meal)

• Drop off groceries or necessities

• Write kind encouraging letters

• Send goodie bags

• Pray for them

• Use sidewalk chalk to write encouraging messages

• Post positive message on windows

• Post videos online cheering them on

• Check in one them

• Help them with childcare

• Donate items they may need(face masks, hand soap, hand sanitizer, shoe covers, chapstick, hand cream)

• Donate PPE

• order food from local businesses

• transfer prescriptions to local pharmacies instead of big box stores

• thank your teachers for putting in all the extra work

•  BE KIND

Please do your part in keeping you and your community safe along with helping frontline workers, if possible!
