Close rivals, Woodlan and Heritage, came together at the Warrior gym on Saturday, February 22 for the game of the season as both teams started the evening with the same conference record of 5-1.

The first half was a slow match and the teams struggled to put points on the board, finishing with Woodlan on top at 19-17.

Heritage built some stiff competition, but was never able to take the lead over the home team. Warrior Coach David Randall stated, “The crowd got their money’s worth tonight!” The third quarter finished 34-28. Caleb Steiglitz was also getting in some nice shots from the key.

With two minutes left in the fourth quarter Woodlan surpassed the Patriots by more than 10 points and the rest of the game they took it slow and steady. The Heritage team started to foul to get the ball back, but fouling Greg White was probably not a good idea as he had no problem hitting the free-throw shots under pressure. With the clock ticking down to the few seconds of the game, the Warriors allowed Heritage to score a basket to bring the difference back to under 10. The final score was 52-43.

The last time Woodlan won the conference title was 2007 and previously back to 1996. It was a good win for these boys, Coach Randall and his staff, and the seniors on this great team.
