Archers, Panthers claim Paulding JH Relays Titles

PAULDING – The Antwerp boys and Paulding girls took team titles in the Paulding Junior High Track Relay Meet held Thursday at the home of the Panthers.

The Lady Panthers totaled 82 points to claim the championship with county rival Wayne Trace finishing second at 72 and Fairview placed third at 66. Antwerp (62), Ayersville (38) and Hicksville (24) completed the list of schools.

Paulding posted first place finishes in the discus (Leslie, Mead, Ametewee), 3200 relay (Foor, Kohart, Borland, Mangette), high jump (Mead, Arend) and shot put (Leslie, Mead, Ametewee).

Wayne Trace claimed titles in the long jump (Gerschutz, Manz, Jacobs), distance medley (Manz, Stoller, Kurtz, Kipfer), 400 relay (Noggle, Ogle, Troth, Shepherd), 1600 sprint medley (Shepherd, Jacobs, Sennebogen, Ogle) and 800 relay (Shepherd, Jacobs, Manz, Gerschutz).

On the boys side, Antwerp posted 73 points to capture the title over Paulding (62) and Wayne Trace (51). Hicksville (42), Ayersville (42) and Fairview (36) were the other schools to take part.

The Archers recorded first place finishes in the long jump (Woodby, Peters, Schilt) and high jump (Barker, Cline) while Wayne Trace took first in the discus (Kennedy, Johnson, Miller), shot put (Kennedy, Miller, Stoller) and distance medley (Cook, Knowles, Hire, Morehead).

Wayne Trace (Knowles, Ross, Stoller, Cook) and Antwerp (Morrow, Bauer, Ingol, Peters) tied for first place in the shuttle hurdles.

Paulding’s 800 relay team (Weible, Omonayin, Santillan-Rodriguez, Manz) and 400 relay quartet (Manz, Omonayin, Santillan-Rodriguez, Pier) both posted first place finishes as well.
