Kiwanis Club Welcomes Derek Merrin

The Kiwanis Club welcomed Derek Merrin as its guest speaker on August 13, 2026. Merrin was invited to speak by fellow Kiwanian Richard Kipp.

Merrin is a conservative leader and lifelong Northwest Ohioan with a strong background in public service. His experience includes serving on Waterville City Council, serving as mayor of Waterville, and spending eight years in the Ohio House of Representatives, where he became a leader in the House Republican Caucus.

During his time in public service, Merrin has advocated for lower taxes, reduced government regulations, election integrity, school choice, and responsible government.

Merrin currently lives in Monclova Township and is running for Congress. During his presentation, he discussed his background, legislative experience, and his desire to bring his conservative values and Northwest Ohio roots to Washington.

The Kiwanis Club appreciates Merrin for taking the time to speak with members and share his perspective on public service and his campaign for Congress. The club also thanks Richard Kipp for inviting Merrin to be part of the meeting.
