The CountrySide Kids Code with Spheros

The tiny Spheros that the CountrySide Kids got the chance to play with!

On January 20, 2024, the Countryside Kids had their first meeting of the year. With only about 25 kids in attendance, the Secretary, Kailyn Karhoff, called the meeting to order, as the president nor the vice president was at the meeting. Then after that the reading of the minutes and Treasurer’s report was read. She then congratulated the new officers: the president being Deklyn Schweinsberg, the vice president being Kaden Clark, the secretary is Kailyn Karhoff, Treasurer is Raelyn Schweinsberg, The News Reporter being Krandon Crites, Recreational Officer is Emily McCrory, and the Educational Committee Chairperson is Lilly Thompson. Congratulations to all of our new officers!

Recreation was then held by Michael Scweinsberg from OSU Extension who brought spheros, little robot balls along with programmed tablets. Each kid got a sphero and a programmed tablet and learned the controls for a bit before getting ready to race them. The kids then did about 2 races before the Cloverbuds were released from their session and were divided up with an older kid. The Cloverbuds then got to fiddle around with the spheros before they got ready for a Cloverbud race.

The Countryside Kids had a lot of fun playing with the spheros and you could tell. Each of the kids’ faces lit up with enjoyment when they saw how cool these things were. I would like to acknowledge Beth Schweinsberg for allowing this meeting to happen and I would like to give a big shout out to Michael Schweinsberg for giving us the opportunity to be able to play with these tiny robots!
