Former Payne resident Appointed to Serve on National League of Cities Public Safety & Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee

Owen Brigner, Council Aide to Denver City Council member Amanda Sawyer has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2024 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Federal Advocacy Committee. Brigner was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on public safety. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor David Sander of Rancho Cordova, CA.

“Public safety and crime prevention is consistently one of the top reported concerns of Denverites,” said Owen Brigner. “This role gives us another opportunity to help inform policymakers in our nation’s capital about the challenges facing Denver and municipalities across the country.”

As a member of NLC’s PSCP Committee, Brigner will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees play an important role in helping policymakers in Washington understand the issues and challenges facing America’s cities, towns and villages at the local level,” said NLC President Mayor David Sander of Rancho Cordova, CA. “I’m thrilled to have Owen serve on NLC’s Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee this year, and look forward to working with him to strengthen the federal-local partnership, and grow our common knowledge of the issues and opportunities facing our communities.”

Owen is a 2018 Wayne Trace High School grad.  He graduated with an Associates of Arts from Northwest State Community College in 2019 and a Bachelors in Political Science from the University of Colorado- Denver where he is currently pursing his Masters of Public Administration (MPA).
