On May 11th and May 16th, The Leaders of Tomorrow 4-H Club bagged approximately 2,000 bags of rice and protein meals. The meals consist of three main components: long grain white rice, TVP (textured vegetable protein – soybeans), and a chicken bouillon and seasoning mix. Each bag consists of 10 servings, which means 20,000 meals were packed. All packing is done manually, except for bag sealing which is done with a heat sealer. Ingredients and packaging material are provided by Harvest Call, the relief and mission arm of the Apostolic Christian Church.

Harvest Call, in cooperation with a Ukrainian Church in Eastern Ohio, is currently shipping these meals to the country of Ukraine. The Ukrainian’s are using the ingredients to can soup. The soup is sent to the front lines where it is consumed by soldiers and others in need.

The Leaders of Tomorrow 4-H Club has been doing some sort of community service every year such as packaging soup, recycling drives, collecting shoes, and up keeping cemeteries.
