PAULDING, OH:
Carol C. Straley, 81, of Paulding, passed away on May 23, 2023, at Parkview North Regional Hospital. She was born in Paulding County, on January 19, 1942, to Harry and Eunice (Sonnigsen) Johnson. They both preceded her in death. On May 24, 1961, she was united in marriage to Edward Straley, who also preceded her in death.
Carol is survived by a son Daniel (Jill) Straley of Paulding; daughters, Cynthia (Jim) Stiverson of Marion, and Lisa (Scott) Worden of Payne; sister, Betty (Ivan) Layman of Cecil; a brother, Doyle (Louise) Johnson of Paulding; grandchildren, Alex Straley, Dylan Worden and Brock (Lauren) Worden, Hayley (Nathan) Cunningham, and Kelsey and Alexis Stiverson; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Blaire, and Ava.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Johnson; and sisters, Jean Rieke and Judy Etzler.
Carol was a 1960 graduate of Paulding High School. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was employed by Paulding County Farm Service Agency and the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 24 years. Carol always saw to it that when the guys were in the fields, that no one ever went hungry. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s activities, especially their sporting events and was very excited to be a great-grandma. Carol also loved spending time with the many friends she and Ed had made over their years of wintering in Florida.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church 601 Flatrock Drive Paulding, OH. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
