Steve, thank you for everything that you have given to this sport, your community, and your beloved Bulldogs. Photos by Sarah Harris

On Saturday, Hicksville High School hosted the 1st Annual NWO Senior Classic & Special Olympic Exhibition.  The proceeds from this event went to benefit the 4-county Special Olympics programs.  Over $5,000 was raised for this event, and will be distributed equally amongst the 4 programs.

This event was sponsored in part by Jim Schmidt Family of Dealerships (Hicksville, Delphos).  The contests and MVPs were sponsored by Two Bandits Brewing Co. of Hicksville, and Subway of Hicksville.  Shirts and awards were designed, created, and printed by Northwest Ohio Welch Trophy and Screenprinting. Commemorative souvenir programs were designed and printed by the Hicksville News Tribune (Stephanie Feeley and Mike Barth). The live video stream, and taped delay broadcast, can be found on Hicksville Community Television YouTube page (HixTV).

Edgerton Special Olympic legend Stevie Kimpel was honored before the special olympic game.  Below is what was read at the game, and can be paraphrased:

Stevie Kimpel of Edgerton is no stranger to area sports fans. He has been a long time fan of Edgerton High School and can be seen at home games as well as many road games. It doesn’t matter what the sport is or what the weather is like, Stevie is a loyal Bulldog! With basketball, Stevie takes it to another level. He can often be found in the front row of Bulldog games cheering on both the boys and girls teams. When it comes to playing the game, Stevie really shines! He has played for the Special Olympians for over FORTY FIVE years and always raises the roof when he hits a 3 pointer!
