On Wednesday September 28th, five Paulding FFA officers traveled down to Columbus for the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference.

The officers included Secretary Jamy Hunt, Reporter Caydence Rue, Treasurer Jalyn Klopfenstein, Sentinel Kobe Foor, Student Advisor Brooke Kilgore and their FFA advisor, Mrs. Jen Bradford. In the morning, these students mingled with other FFA chapters by playing a game with half of the kids being part of a district and the other half were lobbyists.

After the game was over everyone explored the State House, and participated in multiple activities involving our state legislature. Right before lunch the students heard from The Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Dorothy Pelanda.

The chapters were then served lunch and met State FFA officers, and various state representatives. After lunch, members got listened to Senator Bob Peterson, who is the senator for Ohio’s 17th senate district, talk about his time in FFA and how it has helped him where he is now.

Then everyone listened to the FFA State President, Aubrey Schwarts, talk about her experience in FFA.  All of the officers agreed that they learned how important our legislators are to the state of Ohio and that the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference was a great experience.
