Nancy Eagleson Case Moves Forward with the Order To Disinter Remains

On September 20, 2022  in the Court of Common Pleas in Paulding County Ohio, Judge Michael Wehrkamp granted approval of exhuming the remains of Nancy Eagleson. Eagleson was the a murder victim in  1960 in Paulding, OH. The family has never had closure as it has remained a cold case for over a half a century.

Applicants for this Disinterment are family members, Sheryl Garza and Merrill Miller. Attorney representing the family, John DeMuth entered the the plea to disinter over the summer.

The endeavors to uncover this tragic story was revived by the family these past few years with the assistance of an Ohio based advocacy group, the Porchlight Project. Porchlight used their legal expertise and media resources to bring more awareness to this cold case. 

The family organized and hosted a fundraising concert on September 18th at Branch Christian Fellowship complete with a dinner, and merchandise such as t-shirts, CDs and books.

Since the granting of this plea, the cemetery board will have 75 days to perform the disinterment.
