Lady Warriors Fall to Heritage, Beat Antwerp

WOODBURN – It was rivalry week for the Woodlan volleyball team as the Lady Warriors fell to Heritage in a heartbreaking five-set defeat before knocking off cross-state rival Antwerp Thursday evening.

Against the Archers, Woodlan coasted to a 25-8 win in game one and posted a 25-14 victory in the second set before concluding the evening with a 25-15 game three decision.

The Lady Warriors were led by Lauren Snyder, who smashed 15 kills to pace Woodlan. Mary Reidy and Avah Smith both had four slams for the Lady Warriors while Marissa Smith, Taylor Kneubuhler and Maryella Sharrar totaled three each.

Marissa Smith and Makenna Smith both had two aces with Marissa Smith also adding three blocks and Kyra Parker picked up a pair of blocks.

Audra Smith topped Woodlan with 20 assists while Alyssa Harvey dished out nine and Makenna Smith picked up 16 digs. Avah Smith and Reagan Snyder added eight and seven digs, respectively. Lauren Snyder and Marissa Smith chipped in six and five digs for the Lady Warriors, in that order.

For the Archers, Emma Townley earned 5 digs and 2 assists; Madelyn O’Donnell reached 7 digs and 2 kills; Jillian Treece took 9 digs, 5 kills, and 1 ace; Caroline Rohrs got 7 digs and 1 ace. Ratana Owen snagged 1 dig as well as Hayleigh Jewell, Caydence Shull, and Maddy Peters.

In ACAC action, Heritage outlasted the Warriors for a five-set win as the Patriots picked up the league victory.

The Lady Patriots took the opening set 25-20 before Woodlan responded to win the second set 25-13. After the Lady Warriors picked up a 25-22 victory in game three, Heritage answered to capture game four 25-16 before winning the decisive fifth set 15-8.

Kate Zellers led Heritage with 15 kills and Lainey Simmons added 14 slams. Claire Bickel and Alyson Stinson recorded 12 and 11 slams, respectively, for the Lady Patriots. Carley Bonar, Kendall Zelt, Claire Bickel and Lucy Buuck all had three aces and Kate Zellers finished with two blocks.

Buuck picked up 21 digs to top the Lady Patriots while Bickel added 17 and Zellers finished with 13. Kendall Zelt dished out 30 assists to pace Heritage and Zellers finished with 21.

Lauren Snyder recorded a game high 19 kills for Woodlan and Avah Smith had nine. Alyssa Harvey posted three aces with Avah Smith and Lauren Snyder recording two each. Taylor Kneubuhler chipped in four blocks for the Warriors while Lauren Snyder and Marissa Smith totaled three apiece.

Makenna Smith topped Woodlan with 21 digs while Avah Smith and Lauren Snyder both recorded 14. Alyssa Harvey led the Lady Warriors with 20 assists and Audra Smith had 16.
