The Archers picked up a narrow victory in Friday night football action following the Jessica Thornell Tribute. The Archers took an early lead just before the end of the first quarter when Reid Lichty picked up a 7 yard rush, and Stephon Walker successfully kicked the field goal. Ayersville’s Trevino returned the favor in the second quarter with a 4 yard touchdown, and the point after attempt was successful, tying the game at the half 7-7.
Antwerp’s Carson Altimus picked up the next two touchdowns in the third quarter, but only one of Walkers attempts for the extra point were successful. End of the third quarter placed the Archers in a strong lead 20-7.
The fourth quarter was a nail-biter, as Ayersville picked up two touchdowns and took the lead, 20-21, when they scored both point after attempts! Antwerp’s Landon Brewer reversed that lead when he received an 18-yard pass for a touchdown. The two point conversion was no good. The final score was 26-21 in Antwerp’s favor, taking their record to 5-2 for the season.
