Fairview FFA Chapter Hosts 61st Annual Recognition Banquet

This past Saturday, April 13th, the Fairview FFA hosted their 61st annual FFA Banquet. 

The retiring officers this past year were the Secretary, Anna Lechleidner; Vice President, Rose Zeedyk; and President, Logan Smith. The dinner consisted of ham, potatoes, green beans, rolls, and deserts. After dinner, we started the opening ceremonies. 

Neighboring chapters that came to our banquet were Edgerton FFA Chapter and Ayersville FFA Chapter. Whitney Smith and Craig Bowers were the recipients of the Honorary Degree. Recipients of the Chapter FFA Degree are Cassie Mavis, Clair Shininger, Elijah Winkler, Macy Driskill, Ryan Richards, and Shilo Sprague. 

Many of our members have spent more than 12,000 hours working on diverse FFA projects, outside of class time. These members who deserve to be named are Hunter Streeter, Dakota Schaffer, Colton Saylor, Blake Miller, Clair Shininger, Shilo Sprague, Macy Driskill, Cassie Mavis, Ryan Richards, Blake Smith, Tristan McGuire, Garrett Bennett, and Rose Zeedyk. These are just a few of the members that do a lot of behind the scenes work. 

Being a good FFA member requires dedication, a great attitude, and a large time commitment. The people who received the Blue and Gold award are Brooke Phillips, Brook Mavis, Ryan Richards, Cassie Mavis, Brooke Hardy, Cadee Brown, Logan Smith, and Rose Zeedyk. 

The 2018 Star Greenhand Award is an award that goes to a person who has good academic performance in Ag class and goes to multiple in and out of school and multiple day events. This award went to Kaitlyn Zeedyk. 

The Star Chapter member in Agribusiness went to a person who has the best job placement project. This person was Cadee Brown. 

The Star Chapter Farmer award goes to the person with the best placement project, this is Cassie Mavis. 

Many other awards that were handed out were Adult Appreciation, Jacket Recognition, Participation, State Awards, State Proficiency, Chapter Proficiency, Academic Achievement, Record Keeping, and Parent Thank You’s. 

Towards the end of the banquet, the 2017-2018 FFA Officer Team installed the 2018-2019 FFA Officer Team. The new offices consist of President Tristan McGuire; Vice President Garrett Bennett; Treasurer Cassie Mavis; Secretary Clair Shininger; Reporter Kaitlyn Zeedyk; Sentinel Ryan Richards; Student Advisor Brooke Phillips; and Historian Brook Mavis. We can’t wait to see how far the chapter comes in just another short year.
