GARRETT – Three Allen County teams will battle it out when boys basketball sectional action opens up this week at Garrett High School.

New Haven took on Leo February 25th in a rematch of an earlier contest. The first game of the night had Angola (17-5) taking on Concordia (12-10).

The Bulldogs, who finished the season with a record of 8-14, will battle the Lions for the right to move into the sectional semifinals. Leo ended the regular season with a record of 8-12.

In the first meeting of the two schools, New Haven posted a 64-57 at Leo back on January 11.

The winner of the New Haven-Leo game then returns on Friday, March 1, for a 7:30 p.m. game against Woodlan.

New Haven got past the Warriors 74-55 in the season opener on November 21 while Woodlan fell to Leo this past Friday by a score of 57-50.

Woodlan ended the regular season with a record of 6-16.

Heritage also will open sectional play this week as the Patriots take on Fort Wayne Bishop Luers February 25th at Bellmont High School.

The Patriots, who ended the year at 15-7, will look to stop a two-game losing streak when they battle the Knights. Bishop Luers stands 4-17 overall entering tournament action.

The winner of the Heritage-Bishop Luers game advances to take on host Bellmont (14-8) on Friday.
