Antwerp Elementary School held its spelling bee on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the library. Ten fourth and fifth grade students competed for a chance to represent the Archers in the Paulding County Spelling Bee. After 24 rounds, fifth grader Jessica Thornell won the bee by spelling the words “diagram” and “grocery” correctly. Fifth grader Allison Carnes was the runner-up. Thornell will represent Antwerp Elementary School at the Paulding County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Antwerp Local School auditeria. In the event that Thornell cannot attend, Carnes will represent the school.
