On Thursday, October 6 the Lady Raiders travelled 127 north to Paulding taking on local rival and host, the lady Panther volleyball team. The varsity game was interesting after Paulding defeated the JV Trace team in two sets. Both varsity teams started strong to 10, then gradually the Raiders moved ahead to where they were ahead and with only 1 point to go at 18-24, looking to make one more kill for the set win. Don’t know what happened next, but the Raiders either fell apart or Paulding refueled and started burning up the court with 8 points in a row for the victory. Faith Vogel and Cassidy Posey both were nailing the kills locking up the come from behind win.

The next set the Lady Raiders also started well with Danae Meyers, who locked up the season record on blocks and numerous kills. The latter half of the game the tied turned and the Panthers locked up another.

The third set went to Paulding once again. Watching the game from the beginning and seeing how strong the Raiders look you wonder, how in the world did Paulding secure the victory up in three sets? Who knows, but it was true.

Paulding won over Wayne Trace 26-24, 25-19, 25-18. Paulding is now 9-10 on the season while Wayne Trace drops to 7-12.

Wayne Trace Leaders: Danae Myers – 16 digs, 12 kills, three blocks; *** Danae’s three blocks ties the school record for a season with 74.; Carissa Laukhuf – 24 assists, six digs; Sadie Sinn – 14 digs; Kaylee Shepherd – seven digs, five kills; Kacey Reinhart – six digs, four kills.

In Junior Varsity action Wayne Trace declared victory over Paulding 25-21, 25-13.

The Lady Panthers won in the freshman game 26-24, 25-20.
