Less than a couple weeks ago the Lady Archers took on Fairview at the Apaches’ court. The game was great for the home team on February 4th.

It just so happened the draw for the sectionals had both of these teams competing once again, this time at the Defiance High School court for the first game of sectionals. Rachael Williamson was fantastic getting this game on the roll. Kiana Recker was again great from the free throw line from the beginning. This happened to be one of the highest first quarter scores for the Lady Archers. On the other side of the court, the Lady Apaches were doing well too. Not quite to the extent of Antwerp, but well enough. Mercedes Wagner posted 6 points in the first and Carly Wending nailed a 3 point basket. The first period ended 19-11 with Antwerp in the lead.

The second quarter was a tie. Both competitors on the court posted 9. Recker added 4 points and Audrie Longardner earned her first points. Fairview’s Katie Crites was the top in this period with 5 points. The half finished 28-10—Lady Archers still in the lead.

The third period and fourth periods for the Apaches added 22 points with 11 for each period. For Antwerp both periods added 23 points with 8 in the third and 15 in the fourth when Antwerp had another great last quarter. Peyton Short was on the foul line four times and she hit every one! Avery Braaten also added four points with two of those being foul shots. Antwerp won the game that mattered the most with a 51-42 score.

Score by the Quarter:

Antwerp: 19 9 8 15 = 51

Fairview: 11 9 11 11 = 42

Scorers of the Game:

Antwerp: Smith 11; Williamson 11; Short 10; Recker 9; Braaten 4; Longardner 4; Cline 1; Johanns 1

Fairview: Crites 9; Schroeder 8; Wagner 8; Wendling 7; Phillips 6; Vetter 4
