The Panthers went into this home game with a 5-4 record, while the Mustangs came in at 4-4. Both the teams were ready for this conference matchup.

The game started close while Paulding kept a very small lead through quite a bit of the game. It’s noted that Allen East has excellent three point shooters—they three in the first quarter alone! The top scorers for 1st quarter were Ethan Rhonehouse with a couple of baskets and Nathan Gee with a 2 point basket and two free-throw points. The first ended with Paulding in the lead 12-11.

The next period was just about as equal when Allen East added 10 points and Paulding added 12 once again. This period is when Alex Arellano got his game together and started adding points with seven. Corbin Edwards posted Paulding’s first 3 in this quarter. The half ended at 21-24 with the Panthers holding the lead.

What happened in the third quarter? I don’t know. The period was mostly in favor of Paulding when they quickly gained a 10 point lead early, looking like they had the game, but then suddenly lost it with 1:11 left and the score tied at 36. Nathan Gee was a key player psychologically in the game against Allen East when the Panthers were able to extend their lead in the third quarter.

Paulding struggled to hit points, shot after shot bounced off the rim and this continued through the fourth when Paulding only scored five points and all by Rhonehouse. The game finished with the Mustangs winning 53-41.
