State Patrol Investigating Injury Crash in Van Wert and Paulding Counties

medical2Ridge Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating an injury crash that occurred at 10:08 P.M. Thursday night on SR 116 near milepost 17, in Van Wert County.

A 2002 Harley-Davidson Road King, driven by James A. Goetz, 41, of Spencerville, Ohio was traveling westbound on SR 116. Mr. Goetz was negotiating a curve in the roadway when he drove off the right side of the road, and he came to rest on the edge of a cornfield, with the motorcycle on top of him. Mr. Goetz was life-flighted, by Samaritan, to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN, for his injuries. Mr. Goetz remains in stable condition at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

The Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Middle Point Fire and EMS, Van Wert Fire Department, Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, and Samaritan.

The crash remains under investigation. Mr. Goetz was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

State Patrol Investigating Serious Injury Crash in Antwerp

Antwerp -The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 8:00 P. M. Thursday at County Road 424 near Township Road 43 in Carryall Township, Paulding County, Ohio.

A Gray 2004 Chevy Trail Blazer driven by John Tuto, age 34, Antwerp, Ohio was westbound on County Road 424 and drove off the right side of the road. Mr. Tuto then over corrected and slid off the left side of the road. Mr. Tuto then struck a driveway and overturned multiple times before coming to rest on the vehicles top.

Mr. Tuto was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center via Samaritan Life Flight.
John Tuto was wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, and Antwerp Fire and EMS. The crash is still under investigation.
