This first round of the ACAC tournament started on Tuesday, January 14 at the Warrior home court. This game was nothing like the girls’, being fast paced, with both teams on fire. Woodlan took an early lead, but Leo came back and surpassed the Woodlan score ending the first quarter at 13-19.

While the Warriors scored well in the second quarter, Leo didn’t slow down the pace of their baskets and kept the pressure on the home team, leading the half-time score at 44-36.

It was a different team for the second half of the game as the Warriors brought the house down. Woodlan outscored Leo by nearly double in the third quarter with both seniors Kadin Gerig and Jaylin Bennett pulling the points out of the basket.

Starting the fourth quarter the game was close and Leo tried to take back the momentum that was ripped away by the Warriors, but it was fruitless with Woodlan once again outscoring the Lions and taking the win at 83-76. Woodlan moves on to game two of the ACAC tournament at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Thursday, January 15 at 6 pm.
