PAULDING: Robert C. Thornell, age 86 died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Gardens of Paulding, Paulding, Ohio.
He was born February 2, 1927 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the son of Walter and Mary E. (Tatman) Thornell. On January 18, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding, he married Alma Mae Arend who survives. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish; Lion’s Club of Grover Hill; and Lifetime member of Knights of Columbus. He was 5th generation farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Mae Thornell, Paulding; a daughter, Janet (Dennis) Miller, Grover Hill; three sons, Larry (Cathy) Thornell, Tom Thornell, both of Paulding, and Robert (Diane) Thornell, Defiance; a brother, Myron (Donna) Thornell, Convoy, OH; 12 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Arnold Thornell; and a sister, Rachel Hunter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10 AM Monday, September 9 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, with Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will follow in Hedges Cemetery, Paulding County.
Visitation will be 2-8PM Sunday, September 8 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with a Rosary Service at 7:30. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to Masses or Divine Mercy Catholic Parish.
