The Left Turn

Last week the World of Outlaws 410 Winged Sprint Car Series, charged through Ohio, with 3 big nights of racing. Sheldon Haudenschild’s NOS Energy Drink Buckeye Brawl, started in Findlay at Millstream Speedways on the 4/10 mile dirt oval. A capacity crowd packed the historic racetrack and watched Michael “Buddy” Kofoid, start on the poll and ended up taking the checked flag. Garet Willianson, and David Gravel had to settle for 2nd and 3rd.
The second night of the Brawl had the Outlaws on the newly refurbished Mansfield Speedway. It’s taken over a year to bring the former paved NASCAR track back to life and now it’s a half mile dirt oval. From last spring until now the speedway has gone through growing pains. Give track owner and former NASCAR driver Matt Tifft another year or two, and this facility could be competition for Eldora. On Saturday, October 9th, Wooster Ohio’s, Sheldon Haudenschild found victory Lane, in the series that carries his name. Donny Schatz and Carson Macedo stood alongside the winner on the podium.
Saturday, the 3 night Buckeye Brawl wrapped up on the Ohio/Pennsylvania Stateline in Hartford Ohio, at the famous Sharon Speedway. The second night in a row, Sheldon Haudenschild took the checkered flag, but this time had to work his way from starting 10th. The Ohio sprint car ace took his time and picked off one by one, the best drivers in the series. Logan Schuchart started 3rd in the feature but only moved up one spot to take 2nd, and David Gravel took 3rd after starting 4th.
Three nights of the Sheldon Haudenschild NOS Energy Drink Buckeye Brawl was perfect for sprint car fans. Every night each racetrack was filled with race fans from different states to watch their favorite drivers battle it out. The chilly temperatures and area high school football games had no impact on the series. Look for night year to be bigger and better. Until next week, keep your wheels down.
Ron out!
