Shirley May Clemens
PAULDING, OH:
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley May Clemens, age 75, who passed away peacefully on July 17th 2026, at Paulding County Hospital after a long fight with Alzheimer’s.
Shirley was born in Defiance to Jim and Alwilda Ankney. She was a longtime resident of Briceton, Ohio, retired from ITT in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she worked as a supervisor for 25 years, and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She shared a lifetime of love with her devoted husband, Don Clemens, creating countless memories through their travels together and the life they built side by side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter, Bobbie Jo (Noffsinger) Yocum, her sister Sally, and her two brothers Tom and Tony.
She is remembered by her husband, Don Clemens; her daughter, Lora Clemens; her son, Trent Clemens (Stacy); and son in law Chris Yocum, her grandchildren, Jayde Garcia, Tawni Ridgeway, Abbie Keirns (Jordan), Zayne Yocum, and Jack Clower; as well as two great grandchildren, Jayce and Carmen, and the many friends and loved ones she welcomed into her heart and treated as her own family.
Shirley found joy in cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, collecting and admiring lighthouses, spending time with her fur babies, and making memories on trips with her husband and treasured girls’ getaways. Above all, her greatest happiness came from her children, grandchildren, and the people she loved.
Known for her kind heart, generous spirit, infectious laugh, and warm smile, Shirley touched the lives of so many. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved, and her compassion reached far beyond her own family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the countless memories, laughter, and unconditional love she gave so freely. Shirley’s legacy lives on in the family she adored, the friendships she nurtured, and the community that will forever remember her.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Den Herder Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hedges Cemetery, Jackson Township, OH.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Den Herder Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 12:00 P.M. until time of services on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to CHP Hospice.
