Shannon Villena Named Hicksville Rotary Citizen of the Year

The Hicksville Rotary Club has a long-standing tradition of honoring an individual who has made a difference in the local community. At the club’s July 21 luncheon meeting, the Citizen of the Year award was given to a very surprised Shannon Villena, who exemplifies what it means to be an active supporter of the Hicksville community and the local Rotary club.
A native of Edgerton, Shannon began her Hicksville working career at the Hicksville Community Service Center where she served as Director for over 10 years, working closely with both county and local social service agencies. She also served as President of the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce for five-plus years, which allowed her to broaden her focus by strengthening the business community and working to involve local businesses in making Hicksville a better place to live and work. For the last 14 years, Shannon has been the Director of Marketing and Public Relations for The Hicksville Bank, while continuing to be involved with community activities, most notably serving as the Hicksville representative for United Way’s Clothes for Kids project.
Everyone who knows Shannon appreciates the many ways she works to make Hicksville a very special community. The Hicksville Rotary Club acknowledges that the Village of Hicksville is extremely fortunate to have Shannon Villena as one of its citizens.
