Local Brothers Turn Lemonade Stand into Community Giving

Three local brothers are proving that even a simple lemonade stand can make a big difference.

After raising $157 selling lemonade, Gabe, Ty, and Cam Dickinson chose to donate their earnings through the Defiance Area Foundation’s Piggy Bank Philanthropy initiative. The brothers filled their Piggy Bank Philanthropy pigs before bringing them to the Foundation to make their gift.

“We chose the Defiance Area Foundation because they do a lot for the community,” Gabe said. “The community needs the money more than we do.”

Ty added, “We like all the work the Foundation has done for the parks in Defiance.”

Piggy Bank Philanthropy encourages children and families to save their own money and donate it to causes they care about, helping teach generosity and community involvement from a young age.

“The Dickinson brothers are a wonderful example of what Piggy Bank Philanthropy is all about,” said Chelsie Schroeder, Marketing Director for the Defiance Area Foundation. “Their generosity reminds us that you’re never too young to make a positive impact.”

Community members interested in participating can stop by the Defiance Area Foundation, located at 613 W. Third Street in Defiance, to pick up a complimentary piggy bank and begin their own giving journey.
