LEARNING TO FORGIVE

Do you know that unforgiveness, resentment, and unresolved anger are poisonous to your spiritual, physical, and mental well-being? Unforgiveness and resentment are like drinking a cup of poison every day and waiting with great anticipation for someone else to die. (smile).
Matthew 6:14 (NIV) states, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” This verse highlights the importance of forgiveness in our relationships and underscores the reciprocal nature of forgiveness between God and us. We are not perfect; we all make mistakes.
Forgiveness is the antidote to poison. Just as God’s forgiveness toward us heals and nourishes our bones, so does forgiving others and releasing them from the bondage we have imposed on them.
Learning to forgive is a process. First, ask God to forgive you for not forgiving others. This step alone is cathartic. Then, for three days, pray earnestly for those you resent. By the fourth day, you should be resurrected. If not, repeat the process.
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44 NKJV
You’ve been living in bondage long enough; it’s time to get free and stay free!
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” – John 8:36 NKJV
