WAUSEON, OH – June 20th, Jackson, Michigan’s Rusty Schlenk had his DIRTcar Late Model dialed in, and he put on a show Saturday night, leaving only 10 cars on the lead lap. He won his record setting 7th Barney Oldfield Race, and the $5,000 first place prize money. The win was during the annual stop for the American Late Model Series in Wauseon.

The 35-lap feature was only stopped once for a caution on lap two when Colin Shipley spun in turn two. After that caution flag, it was all Schlenk. He grabbed the lead from Colten Burdette at the start, and by the ninth trip around the track, Schlenk found himself at the tail end of the field. He was able to put his car anywhere he wanted, resulting in a win by 12.5 seconds over the 2nd place car and the current Oakshade point leader Steve Kester. Casey Noonan, Colten Burdette, and Terry Rushlow rounded out the Top 5.

In the Dominator Stock Class, Jake Rendel started deep in the field but was able to work his way through traffic and win the feature that had many caution flags. Mason Luttrell was 2nd, followed by Jeff Foks, Josh McNicol and JR Gooden. Holgate’s Ryan Okuley won the Sport Compact Feature, followed by Geoff Wasnick, James Stamper, Wesley Belkofer and Justin Newman.

Ohio Sprint Week for the All Star Circuit of Champions wrapped up on night number 7, at Wayne County Speedway. Two races were cancelled last week because of rain, Millstream and Eldora. Both tracks declined on make-up race dates. Atomic Speedway was to have the final race but didn’t meet expected ticket sales and the final was moved back to Wayne County Speedway. Saturday night had 4 drivers with a chance to be crowned Ohio Sprint Week Champion who were all battling at the front of the 35 lap feature. When the checked flag dropped and the dust was hanging in the air Zeth Sabo won his second feature of Ohio Sprint Week and $10,000. Darin Naida and Kalib Henry finished a close 2nd and 3rd. When the Series points were added up, Cap Henry in his 33w, was crowned the overall 2026 Ohio Sprint Week Champion. Cap has won the title 2 years in a row.

Oakshade Raceway

Wauseon, OH, Saturday, June 13th – Colin Shipley won the DIRTcar UMP Late Model Race at Oakshade Saturday night. He started on the pole and for 25 laps fought off his stepfather, Rusty Schlenk, to get the win. It really got interesting when the two lead cars caught up to slower traffic. Shipley had some tough decisions to make as he approached heavy traffic running side by side with the veteran Schlenk. Colin began working through the lapped traffic, but he couldn’t separate any from the experienced veteran. After clearing the first batch of lapped traffic, the two drivers battled side for the lead with Schlenk trying to make the high side work. Shipley hugged the low side. The young driver stayed focused, not making any mistakes to fend off Schlenk to earn the race win. Casey Noonan finished third followed by Carter Murday and Devin Shiels.

Dylan Jessen survived a close call to get the win in the Late Model Sportsman feature to become the first (and only) repeat winner this season in any class at Oakshade, 2nd Josh Robertson, 3rd Dylan Hough, 4th Chris Williams, and 5th Mike Jessen. Dominator Stock Feature 1st Jeff Foks Jr., 2nd Mason Luttrell, 3rd Jake Rendel, 4th Scott Hammer and 5th Chane Stuckey. Regan Ford Sr won the Street Stock feature in a first-ever 1-2-3 for the Fords, beating his brother Dan Ford Jr in P2, and son Regan Ford Jr in third.

On Tuesday, June 16th Eldora Speedway was rained out, with no make-up date left.
By: Ron Burt

The 32nd Annual Eldora Dream Week didn’t disappoint the Super Late Model fans last week at the Big E. With all the rain we had leading up to the annual event, Tony Stewart and his ground crew had the track in good racing conditions. Eighty two drivers and race teams made the haul hoping to have one or more of the weeks big paydays.

FloRacing Night in America kicked off Eldora Dream Week, Wednesday, June 3rd. Max Blair set fast time 15.495, and he won the first of 6 heat races. After winning a couple of big races the week before, including last Saturdays $100,057.00 win at Mansfield Speedway, all eyes were on Nick Hoffman. He still had momentum in his favor and pulled out a hard fought victory and $20,000.00 first place prize money. Finishing behind the leader 2nd Devin Moran, 3rd Dale McDowell, 4th Brandon Sheppard and 5th Chris Ferguson.

Thursday, June 4th was Dream Night 1 with Dan Ebert taking the fastest lap in qualifying 14.964. Unfortunately, he was only able to pull out at 15th place finish in the feature. Your winner Bobby Pierce won the feature after starting inside on row 4. On the podium with the winner was Tyler Erb 2nd and Hudson O’Neal 3rd.

Friday, June 5th Dirt Late Model Dream Night 2 Eldora Speedway Dale McDowell set fast time with 15.036. He started the feature inside row 2 but just couldn’t advance. The winner Jonathan Davenport had a solid night winning the 2nd heat race, started the feature in 6th and was able to work through traffic and get the win. Behind Davenport was 2nd Brandon Overton, and 3rd Dale McDowell.

On Saturday, June 6th the weather didn’t look favorable for the 100 lap Dream. The sky opened and a lake developed in the infield. Once the downpour stopped, the pumps, drainage system and ground crew went to work and by hot lap time, the track came around and was race ready for the 32nd Annual Dirt Late Model Dream. Bobby Pierce had the best run of the 4 nights of racing, starting The Dream in 13th, fighting his way through lots of traffic, leaders and lapped cars to park his car in Vicory Lane for big $100,000.00 payday. Behind the winner Max Blair, Nick Hoffman, Dale McDowell and Devin Moran. A lucky race fan also won big. The take-home share of the 50/50 was $42,686.00.

Other racing results in the area Friday and Saturday:

Friday, June 5th Attica Raceway Park Attica Ohio ran a regular show with 3 car classes. Your feature top finishers were, 410 Winged Sprints 1st Cap Henry, 2nd Trey Jacobs, and 3rd Gauge Garcia. 305 Winged Sprints 1st Jamie Miller, 2nd Dustin Dinan, and 3rd Bryan Sebetto. UMP Super Dirt Late Models 1st Kyle Moore, 2nd Rusty Schlenk, and 3rd Gregg Haskell.

Friday, June 5th Limaland Motorsports Park Lima Ohio featured the Great Lakes Super Sprints, along with the UMP Modifieds and Thunder Stocks. Great Lake Super Sprints 1st Nate Dussel, 2nd Van Gurly Jr. and 3rd Max Stambaugh. UMP Modifieds 1st Drew Charlson, 2nd Dalton Lane, and 3rd Jeff Koz. Thunder Stocks 1st Aiden Hervey, 2nd Jordon Conover, and 3rd Tony Anderson.

Saturday, June 6th, Oakshade Raceway OH featured 3 Race Classes Sportsmen/Modified Challenge, Dominator Stocks and Sport Compacts.

Sportsmen vs Modified Feature, 1st Mike Jessen, 2nd Dylan Jessen, and 3rd Josh Robertson. Dominator Super Stocks Top 3, 1st Jake Rendel, 2nd Jeff Foks Jr., and 3rd Jerrett Rendel. Sport Compact Feature, 1st James Stamper, 2nd Ken Wells, and 3rd Ryan Okuley.

Next week I will cover Ohio Sprint week which is currently going on for the 410 Winged Outlaw Sprints and the Annual Indiana Midget Week, featuring the National drivers in USAC. Until next week, keep your wheels down.
WOODBURN, Ind. — For eight innings, the Woodlan Lady Warriors matched Central Noble pitch for pitch and inning for inning in a tense regional softball showdown on June 2. But the Cougars finally broke through in the ninth inning, scoring four runs to claim a 4-0 victory and bring Woodlan’s postseason run to an end.

The regional contest was a classic pitchers’ duel through regulation and into extra innings. Neither team was able to push a run across the plate during the first eight innings as both defenses repeatedly came up with key plays. Woodlan managed just two hits in the game while Central Noble collected eight, but the Warriors’ defense and pitching kept the contest scoreless deep into extra innings.

Woodlan’s only hits came from freshman Amelia Riley and sophomore Ellce Krauter, who each finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Riley also accounted for both of the Warriors’ stolen bases.

Central Noble ace Grace Swank proved difficult to solve throughout the afternoon. The senior pitcher threw a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits while striking out 20 Woodlan batters over nine innings. She did not issue a walk and faced just 30 hitters in the dominant performance.

Lucy McHenry carried the load in the circle for Woodlan, pitching eight strong innings. The junior allowed seven hits and three earned runs while striking out eight. Sophia Martin also saw action, pitching one inning and allowing one run. Together, the Warriors’ pitchers held Central Noble scoreless through eight innings before the Cougars erupted in the ninth.

Central Noble’s offense was led by Kaitlyn Tilley, who went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Grace Swank added two hits, a run and an RBI, while Molly Mann contributed a hit, a run and an RBI. Katie Forker also drove in a run for the Cougars.

Woodlan’s defense recorded 27 putouts and 11 assists, committing two errors in the contest. Addison Klotz was credited with 10 putouts, while Ellce Krauter added 10 putouts behind the plate.

The loss ended an impressive season for the Lady Warriors, who finished with a 25-6 record and advanced to the regional round after a successful postseason run. Central Noble improved to 25-6 and advanced with the 4-0 extra-inning victory.
The post Cougars Break Through in Ninth to End Woodlan’s Tournament Run first appeared on West Bend News.

Tuesday, May 12th, Fremont, OH, Aaron Reutzel, a former 4 time Series Champion with the All Star Circuit of Champions won the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions feature race, presented by Valvoline. It’s not easy to win at Fremont Speedway and when you do, it’s very sweet. $20,000.00 is a nice payday at the “Track Action Built”.

Forty cars showed up at Fremont for the All Star Circuit of Champions Race, for the Outlaw 410 Winded Sprints. A good car count for a Tuesday night race. Oklahoma driver Hank Davis, set quick time with a 11.998 lap. It was his first time at Fremont Speedway, and he was only two tenths off the track record.

Qualifying heat races were won by Aaron Reutzel, Cale Thomas, Kalib Henry and TJ Michael. Tyler Courtney struggled in his heat getting a 7th place finish, but he came back and won the B Main to advance into the feature. Cap Henry, Cole Macedo and Zane DeVault also had to transfer out of the B Main. As a bonus, Reutzel won the dash and put him on the pole for the start of the feature.

Just as the cars were being pushed out to start the $20,000.00 to win feature, the clouds moved in causing a few sprinkles. The 26 car starting field was given the green flag and Reutzel took the early lead and fended off defending the series defending champion Kalib Henry, who finished second. Wrecks and cautions kept the track clear for the leaders. Cole Macedo started 23rd and quietly knocked off cars one by one to work his way through traffic and advanced 20 positions to finish third. He just ran out of time.

Next up, the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline heads east to visit Michaels Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday, May 23rd, and Wayne County Speedway on Sunday, May 24th. Both races are $7,500-to-win. Until next week, keep your wheels down.
