Antwerp’s Day in the Park is set to take place on Saturday, August 3rd at the Riverside Veterans Memorial Park. Small Town Heroes is the theme of the parade this year & the honored guests marching with this year’s parade will be the Antwerp HS softball and baseball teams. Earlier this spring, both teams made school history by making it to the State level in tournament. Baseball bowed out in the first round of State, but the girls went all the way to the top making it a FIRST for the schools record books. The EMS, Fire, and Police will also be honored as Antwerp’s Small Town Heroes.
This year’s GEM of the YEAR had a few nominees this year… but that revelation will wait till the Opening Ceremonies!
Win Chamber Bucks while you are out and about in the Park! Stop by the Chamber Information table to put your name in for a drawing for Chamber Bucks. Two names will be drawn every half hour. Chamber Bucks are worth $5 toward purchases at Chamber businesses in Antwerp.
There are several business and organizations that will make this an enjoyable summer day to spend at the park. Upper Maumee Canoe and Kayak is hosting a Canoe Race down the Maumee that will start at Pond-A-River Golf Course and finish at the boat dock at Riverside Park. Strong Tower Fitness led by Reta Ptak will give the park goers a demonstration of the variety of fitness classes she offers. Antwerp Community Band always entertains with engaging ballads and scores. K&S Tumblefit led by Kelli Bradbury & Susie Arnold show off all their training by practicing what they have learned for everyone. Antwerp Rotary Club has sponsored a fundraiser that is sure to peak the interest of all attending Day in the Park (see separate article with pictures).
These businesses are also Small Town Heroes because they are the ones that get up as early as the sun (sometimes earlier) and they do this day in and day out — sometimes without breaks, without holidays — run their businesses in this town for the betterment of the people who have chosen to live here. Antwerp Chamber wants to celebrate its businesses each summer and that’s what Day in the Park does.
So, come out, enjoy some good food to support different school and local organizations, check out the local art/craft vendors, let the kids play the games and jump in the Bounce Houses and celebrate Small Town living with the Antwerp Chamber!
