Charles “Chuck” Layton Sawyer

ANTWERP, OH:

Charles “Chuck” Layton Sawyer, 81, of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 13th, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

Chuck was born in Paulding County, Ohio on January 29, 1943, a son of the late Hazel L. and Paul F. Sawyer.

He retired from Dana Weatherhead, Antwerp, after 37 years of service. Chuck enjoyed puzzles, the Chicago Bears and watching NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt always remained his favorite driver. Chuck’s family was always foremost in his life. He enjoyed family camping trips and watching his grandkids play sports, always cheering for the Antwerp Archers.

Chuck will be sadly missed by his wife, Judy (Stumphy); daughters, Monica (Dan) Miller, Denise Coleman, Nancy (Greg) Hughes and Malinda (Michael) Schmidt.; siblings, Eddie (Judy) Sawyer, Sharon Scott and Denny (Mary) Sawyer; grandchildren, Dustan and Dexter Shipe, Zac, Andy and Jeffrey Coleman, Avrial Sawyer and Madison Schmidt and 9 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Sawyer and Ruby Bakle.

Viewing is at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp on Wednesday, April 17th, 4 – 7 PM, when the rosary will be recited.

Chuck’s funeral mass is at 10 AM on Thursday, April 18th at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 203 W. Townline Street, Payne, Ohio. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH AFTER 9:45 AM

He will be laid to rest in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
