This past fall for high school football and winter basketball I appreciate everyone that listened to my Facebook Live scoreboard shows on the Ohio Sports Blitz. I enjoyed bringing you scores from 20 high school conferences and the pros several nights a week. This year 700 to 1,200 caught the live broadcast nightly or listened to the replays. The page is now focused on Tri-State racing. Starting Thursday, April 25th, and every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. I will have a weekly racing show with driver and track promoter interviews. I will mention the special races coming up for each track. The show will also cover the USAC Series with Silver Crown, Sprints, Extreme Outlaw Series, and Thunder Midgets. If you like racing in the Tri-State I hope you join me. The Ohio Sports Blitz is now on Tik Tok with racing reels from area racetracks with pictures from top photographers.

The big news this week comes from Hohlbein Racing in Ottoville. USAC Midwest Thunder Midget driver, Abby Hohlbein will join Jett Mann and Danny Sam’s lll to run a limited winged 360 Great Lakes Sprint schedule for 2024. These three teammates are looking forward to an exciting season. Abby will still run her USAC Thunder Midget. She’s made a name for herself, and opportunities have been coming her way.

Fremont Speedway (The Track That Action Built) is ready to open for their 73rd season on April 6th.  They will hold 24 events this year. Normal race nights will feature the 410-Sprints, Dirt Trucks, and 305-Sprints. They will also bring in the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Monday, May 27th. It will be the Rick Ferkel “The Ohio Traveler” Tribute. Other special nights will feature the Great Lakes 360 Super Sprints, 410-Non-wing Sprints, USAC Thunder Midgets, Super Late Models, Stock Cars and more. The tracks schedule is now posted on Facebook.

Asphalt race fans were happy to see Anderson Speedway open March 30th with Modifieds, Ford Division, Legends, and Thunder Roadsters. This historic track has something exciting planned for every week. They just posted their 2024 schedule that has special race dates for the 500 Sprint Car Tour, USSA Kenyon Midgets, CRA Street Stocks and Sportsmen, JEGS All Star Tour, Legend Cars, Late Models, Outlaw Figure 8’s and the 76th Annual Little 500 on Saturday May 25th. Most race dates are Friday and Saturday but there are some Wednesday and Thursdays mixed in during the summer.

April 27th will be opening night for Sandusky Speedway featuring the 410-Winged Asphalt Sprints, Midwest Lights Sprints, Pure Stock and All-American Iron Series. Sandusky will have $1.00 admission nights during the summer. Those nights the track will run Pure Stocks, Renegades, Beginner Stocks and All-American Iron. Special events that cost more to attend will include ISMA/MSS Supermodifieds, Ohio Wheelman Series Modifieds and Street Stocks, The National Compacts, and Trucks. On October 19th will be the Nightmare Clash in Dusky. The Sandusky asphalt Street Stocks will race against the Oakshade Dirt Dominator Stocks and the Fremont Dirt Trucks. This is guaranteed to be a fun night for the drivers. Always check the tracks Facebook page for events and prices.

Next week we’ll look at a few more track schedules. Racing season is here with more tracks opening each week. It doesn’t look like Gas City I-69 Speedway and Montpelier will open in 2024. Gas City had USAC Sprint and Extreme Outlaw events scheduled. They also had dates for Indiana Sprint and Midget Week. I will keep you updated. Until next week, keep your wheels down.
