Jean F. Reinhart

ANTWERP, OH:

Jean F. Reinhart, 80 of Antwerp, Ohio, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Jean was born in Antwerp on April 20, 1943, a daughter of the late Francis B. & Galen C. (Carr) Derck.

The simple start to her life on her family farm led to her becoming an exceptionally caring person. Jean’s entire life was lived in service to others. She never second guessed her dedication to her church, family and community. She was an original member of the FISH Organization (this was a forerunner of the Meals on Wheels program). For many years she delivered meals to the elderly and homebound in the county. Jean volunteered at St. Mary Church. She taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for over 25 years with 10 years as coordinator of the program. She was the head of the Funeral Dinner Committee for 37 years. She was a member and past president of the Altar/Rosary Society. She was a lay Eucharistic Minister for many years. Jean started many family traditions like taking the kids shopping and out to dinner on their birthdays; hosting the entire family on Christmas Eve and many annual events such as making Christmas candy, coloring Easter eggs, hunting Easter eggs and others. Jean was mostly a stay-at-home mom but helped out financially by babysitting. She’s still known as “Mom” around town by her many “kids”. Whenever personal time was available, Jean also enjoyed researching genealogy.

Jean will be sadly missed by her husband, Paul Reinhart, to whom she was married on August 26, 1961; children, Mary (Jeff) Burkholder, Joe (Michelle) Reinhart, Julie (the late John) Taylor, Rita (Todd) Andersen, Jim (Rose) Reinhart and Mike Reinhart; daughter-in-law, Crissy (Chris) Simmons; siblings, Ann (the late Chuck) Wiedman, Mary (Kenny) Donat, Cindy (the late Mike) Knight, and John (Heidi) Derck; brother-in-law, Brooks (Patty) Pendergrast; sister-in-law, Sonya Derck; 21 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and four more on the way!

Jean was also preceded in death by her son, William Reinhart, granddaughter, Bethany Reinhart; siblings, Tom Cottrell, Robert, Ruth and George Derck and Linda Pendergrast.
