Huskies too much for Woodlan in Regional Championship Play

Sectional Champs – Woodlan girls basketball team were recognized during half-time of the Woodlan boys game against Eastside last Tuesday, February 13th. The Lady Warriors made school history by getting a spot in the Regional Championship game after 30+ years.

Hamilton Heights proved to be too much in the regional championship as the Huskies recorded a 55-31 victory over Woodlan in IHSAA tournament action Saturday.

The loss ends a great season for the Lady Warriors, who captured a sectional championship and finished the year with an overall record of 18-9.

Ella Hickock led the Huskies with 28 points, four rebounds, three assists and six steals while Camryn Runner chipped in 22 points, three boards, three assists and four steals.

Katie Brown recorded four points and three steals for Hamilton Heights with Hadleigh Cherry picking up one point. The Huskies are now 24-2 overall on the season.

Alyssa Anderson and Taylor Kneubuhler bucketed eight points for Woodlan and Brooke Kneubuhler posted seven markers. Chloe Gaff also had six points for the Lady Warriors with Reagan Widenhoefer finishing with two points.

Anderson also had six boards for Woodlan with Gaff getting five while Widenhoefer and Taylor Kneubuhler recorded three each. Brooke Kneubuhler dished out three assists to pace the Lady Warriors.

The contest was the final one in a Woodlan uniform for the senior trio of Taylor Kneubuhler, Chloe Gaff and Leah Elwood.
