QUILT DONATED TO THE HICKSVILLE BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE

Shown here are Loretta Scott (L) of the Piecemakers and Diane Collins of the Beautification Committee with the flower-themed Dresden Plate pattern quilt that will be awarded in the spring.

Recently the Hicksville Piecemakers Quilt Group donated a quilt to the Hicksville Beautification Committee to assist with their fundraising efforts. The Beautification Committee will raffle off the quilt, with the winning ticket to be drawn at the annual plant event on Mother’s Day weekend. For information contact HBC members Diane Collins, Bobbi Sinn, Susan Mack, Kelsey Klepper, DeDe Walters, Cathy Dull, and Dawn Ish. Piecemakers members may also be contacted. Proceeds will be shared by the two groups to help fund their continuing work in the community.

The Beautification Committee is responsible for planting beds, baskets, gardens, and trees in Hicksville and for keeping them watered and groomed. HBC also supports school and library programs, seed banks and other related activities. Their annual plant sale helps provide area residents with a large variety of beautiful and healthy vegetable and flowering plants.

Piecemakers, now in their 24th year, have made and gifted quilts to individuals and groups in support of sickness and disaster relief in the community and beyond. A quilt is given each year to a veteran and quilts have been donated to support fundraising efforts for many area projects.

Both groups are non-profit, 501(c)3 organizations under the umbrella of the Community Service Center.
