Archers Post Sweep of Eagles

ANTWERP – The Antwerp boys and girls varsity basketball teams swept to victories over visiting North Central Tuesday evening in non-league play.

The Lady Archers opened a 19-7 lead after one quarter and flew past the visiting Eagles 55-25. Antwerp led 33-14 at the halfway point of the contest and took a 43-23 advantage into the final period.

Addyson Turner topped North Central with nine points and Mallory Groves added six markers. Mireya Cruz chipped in five points for the Lady Eagles while Ava Gruber and Amara Wright added a bucket each. Addie Burger also hit one free throw for the Williams County squad.

Caroline Rohrs paced Antwerp with 18 points and Aewyn McMichael chipped in 16 for the Lady Archers. Other scorers for the blue and white were Emma Townley (eight), Faith Clem (six), Taylor Shull (three), Madisyn Peters (two) and Maylynn Carnahan (two).

On the boys side, Antwerp jumped out to a 25-8 advantage at the end of eight minutes of action in coasting to a 69-54 victory.

The blue and white took a 36-21 lead at the midway point of the contest before recording a 53-36 margin at the end of three periods.

Pacing the way for the blue and white was Landon Brewer with 24 points and Reid Lichty chipped in 17 markers. Carson Altimus and Zaine McMichael also reached double digits as well for Antwerp with 11 points apiece.

Aiden Lichty also finished with four points and Camden Fuller picked up a basket for Antwerp.

Johnny Hicks and Joey Burt led the way for North Central with 11 points apiece while Gage Kidston and Ben Pettit both scored nine points for the Eagles.

Other scorers for the Williams County squad were Cohen Meyers (eight), Zach Whitley (four) and Anton Hegler (two).
