Archers beat Wildcats

ANTWERP – The Antwerp Lady Archers outscored Miller City 23-10 at the free throw line and used that advantage to post a 48-45 overtime victory over the Wildcats Monday night in non-league girls basketball action.

The blue and white recorded a 10-6 lead at the end of one quarter before Miller City rallied to take a 19-18 halftime advantage.

After the Wildcats expanded the margin to 30-27 at the end of three periods, Antwerp rallied by picking up a dozen markers compared to the Wildcats’ nine in knotting the contest at 39-39 after regulation.

The Archers then won the game in the extra session with a nine-point session while holding Miller City to six, setting the final at 48-45.

Aewyn McMichael topped Antwerp with 21 points in the contest while Caroline Rohrs added 16 markers for the Lady Archers, including a dozen free throws. McMichael hit eight foul shots as well for the blue and white.

Faith Clem chipped in six points for Antwerp with Emma Townley adding four and Maddy Peters picking up one.

Maddie Erford topped Miller City with 14 points while Jordan Schnipke added a dozen and Isabel Reyna posted eight.

Other scorers for the Lady Wildcats were Lou Michel (four), Andrea Pfau (three), Elizabeth Erford (two) and Hailey Warnimont (two).
