Spirit of Woodlan Season Concludes at Semi-State

After beginning practices in April and working throughout the summer and fall, the Spirit of Woodlan marching band and color guard from Woodlan Jr/Sr High School concluded their season on Saturday, October 21 at the ISSMA Semi-State competition at Franklin Community High School in Franklin, IN.  The students improved weekly and put forth their best performance of the season at Semi-State but the band’s hopes of placing in the top-10 and advancing to the ISSMA State Finals were dashed by stiff competition from across the state and a 12th place finish.  Their show, entitled The Undiscovered, featured a mountain and forest theme and centered around the joining of two different tribes to become one.  The band’s season schedule and results were as follows:

‘On the Banks of the Wabash’ @ Bluffton: 3rd Place

‘Baron Brigade Invitational’ @ Dekalb: 3rd Place

ISSMA Invitational @ Homestead: Gold Rating

ISSMA Regional @ Carroll: Gold Rating

ISSMA Semi-State @ Franklin Community: Participant – 12th Place

Next up for the band will be their Winter Winds season with practices beginning in mid-November and competitions starting on February 10, 2024, at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis. Winter Guard will also begin their season soon with their first competition on January 27, 2024, at Snider High School in Fort Wayne.
