On September 21st, the Paulding FFA had 11 members compete at the Upper Sandusky soils invitational.

The members who competed were Anna Clemens, Kobe Foor, Addy Hunt, Jamy Hunt, Brooke Kilgore, Johnny Lipps, Tytus Manz, Sam Reinhard, Brooklyn Schlatter, Tori Schlatter, and Tyler Schlatter.

In the soil’s competition, students must figure out a wide variety of things such as soil type, and soil texture, and complete a general knowledge test.

If the students chose to be in rural soils, they also had to answer questions about nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels in soils and whether the soil would be good for farming or not. If students chose urban soils, they would answer questions such as is the soil suitable to have basements dug in that area or not and determine whether it is a good area to construct buildings on.

The top 4 members on each team will move onto districts October 3rd, in Tiffin Ohio.  The top four members for the rural team are Anna Clemens, Jamy Hunt, Brooke Kilgore, and Sam Reinhard. Top four members for the urban team are Kobe Foor, Brooklyn Schlatter, Tori Schlatter, and Tyler Schlatter. Great job to all, we are very proud of this group and excited about the district contest!
