The 53rd Annual World 100 for Dirt Super Late Models, at Eldora Speedway was won by Martinsville Indiana’s Hudson O’Neal. All 3 nights the Big E belonged to him, but the World 100 was the icing on the cake along with $56,000.00 for the win. Georgia drivers, Jonathan Davenport and Dale McDowell rounded out the top 3 spots.

The USAC Sprint Cars made a Texas swing that started outside Dallas at Devils Bowl Speedway in Mesquite on September 7th. Brady Bacon would finally get a win at the Bowl. He drove like he owned the track and led all 30 laps. Bacon had a late-race duel with Robert Ballou to earn the victory in the first USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship feature held in the Lone Star State since 1985. The win was the 52nd of Bacon’s USAC National Sprint Car career, tying him for second all-time with 1978 series champion Tom Bigelow.  Now only Dave Darland stands ahead of Bacon with 62 career victories. This win at Devil’s Bowl is especially special to Bacon as well.  More than a decade ago, Bacon competed regularly with the American Sprint Car Series and the Sprint Bandits Tour series, finishing second place several times before his breakthrough win all these years later. Rounding out the top 5 was 2nd. Jake Swanson, 3rd. Kyle Cummins, 4th. Jadon Rogers, and 5th. Justin Grant

Byron Reed, in his final appearance at Attica Raceway Park after 34 years of racing, led all 30 laps of the 410 Sprint feature. The eight-time Attica track champion recorded his 44th career win in the Mark Keegan Classic. It was a great way to end a fantastic racing career. Reed finished second in the track’s 2023 final point standings. Cap Henry came in 5th but had enough points to win this year’s 410 Sprint points title. It’s his 2nd track championship. The top 5 in the feature were Byron Reed, 2nd Cale Thomas, 3rd Zeth Sabo, 4th Creed Kemenah, and 5th Cap Henry. In Late Model action, Britton, Michigan’s Devin Shiels took 6th in the feature but it was good enough to win his fourth straight championship at Attica. Flyin’ Ryan Markham won the feature for his 23rd career Attica win. Behind the winner was 2nd Justin Chance, 3rd Rusty Schlenk, 4th Matt Irey, and 5th Kyle Moore. In the 305 Sprints, Jamie Miller hung onto 3rd and that was good enough for him to win the crown for 2023. This is his fourth 305 track championship (2005, 2019, 2021 and 2023). Kasey Jedrzejek won the feature followed by John Ivy and Miller.

Angola Motorsport Speedway ended their season last Saturday. The 2023 track champions are Street Stocks Jeremy Hamilton by 2 points, Jordan Gatton in the Modifieds and a back-to-back champion, Front Wheel Drives Chip Heintzelman and Late Model Champ is Tommy Cook.

Indianapolis Speedrome hosted the 2023 World Late Model Figure 8 Championship. Austin Tunny led a race high 213 of the 390 laps in the 3-Hour Endurance Race. Tunny is now a 2-time victor of the $20,000 to win classic. It was also the second World Championship for car owner Sam Breedlove. There were 20 lead changes amongst 6 racers. The race had a record of 5 drivers on the lead lap at the finish from a field that included competitors from 6 states. This victory comes 20 years since his late Hall of Fame father Bill Tunny Jr captured the World Figure 8 title. Since Bill’s 2003 win, his 3 sons have captured a combined 7 World Figure 8 Championships. This year’s top 3 spots were a family affair 1st Austin Tunny, 2nd Jesse Tunny, and 3rd Mark Tunny.

Feature winners at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon were, Late Model Rusty Schlenk, Sportsman Jacob Gamber, Dominator Stock Craig Dippman and Sport Compacts Jason Deshler.
