ANGOLA, IN:
Maurice J. Steiner, 101, began his eternal life on September 21, 2023. He was born on January 2, 1922 on the family farm near Mt. Cory, Ohio, to Hiram and Lulu Mae (Basinger) Steiner and passed from this life at his home on Lake James, Angola, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. After graduating from Mt. Cory High School, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII and was a Propeller Specialist when honorably discharged.
While in the service he married the love of his life, Lois Marie Neuenschwander. Together they parented four children: Maurice (Patricia), Samuel (Kay), Cathy (Robert) Thiess, and Sybil (John) Love. From their union came 14 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Eileen Amstutz and Joanne Rankey.
Maurice retired from the Angola Post Office as assistant postmaster in 1984. He enjoyed farming on his Metz farm as a second vocation and playing games with family and friends.
Above all he loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. He was an elder and Sunday School teacher at the Salt Springs, FL and Angola, IN Christian Churches until 4 years ago.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Angola Christian Church on Sunday, September 24, 2023 with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the service at 4:00 p.m. The private burial will be at Circle Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake James Christian Camp or Angola Christian Church. Beams Funeral Home, of Fremont, IN is serving the family.
