Antwerp Police Reports 

On August 18, an officer responded to N. Main St for an individual suffering from an apparent drug overdose. The individual was taken by EMS to the hospital.

On August 18, at the intersection of Woodcox and Madison an officer was called out for an assault. The officer conducted an investigation and one person was charged with assault.

On August 18, Antwerp Police Department was contacted in reference to a wire hanging down in the street in the 200 block of Canal. It appeared as if a larger truck snagged it and knocked it down. 

On August 19, a resident of S. Main St reported they believed someone had entered their vehicle and stole around $300. The said incident occurred 4-5 days earlier. 

On August 21, Antwerp Police Department responded to an individual suffering a mental break down and having suicidal thoughts. The Antwerp EMS transported the individual to the hospital. 

On August 21, Paulding County Sheriff reported a 911 hangup from a business on W. River St. It was determined it was dialed accidentally on a cell phone. 

On August 22, a vehicle was stopped on River St. for exceeding the posted speed. The driver was cited for speeding and driving under suspension. 

On August 22, an officer was stationary at the end of Park Ave. due to numerous complaints of vehicles speeding. The officer was parked in the grass area of the Park Ave. Villas and the apartment manager asked him not to sit there. 

On August 23, a resident of E. River St. reported they had given permission for an individual to drive their car, but it was to be returned by 7:00 p.m. and as of 11:30 p.m. it had not been returned. The officer investigated and located the car in Decatur, Indiana.

On August 23, a resident of Rd. 1031 Antwerp stated he had purchased a motorcycle on that day and  placed the title in the saddle bag. He had traveled east of Antwerp from center of town and believed the title had blown out. If the title is found please bring it to the police department.

On August 23, a resident of Woodland Dr. reported a door to door salesman. The officer located the individual and explained he needed a permit to go door to door.

On August 23, a vehicle was stopped for exceeding the posted speed. The driver was cited for speed and expired plates. 

On August 24, a vehicle was stopped because the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was cited. 

On August 25, a resident of N. Main St. reported that he was trying to get personal items from a home that he had recently moving out of and the homeowner wouldn’t let him. The incident was documented. 

On August 25, someone reported a dog left inside of a black car at Dollar Tree. The caller then reported that the owner had returned. 

On August 25, a resident of Antwerp Manor reported that they received a check and was attempting to cash it. It was determined that the check had been sent from a person online and appeared to be a scam. 

On August 26, a resident of the village reported that after she reported an assault, she had been contacted by the suspect’s husband who encouraged her not to file charges. A report was prepared and forwarded to the Paulding County Prosecutor.

On August 27, the police department received a report of children riding bikes in the middle of the road near W. River St. The officer located the individuals and requested they ride their bikes safely.

On August 28, a resident called the police department in reference to several things going on. It was determined the caller was suffering from drug induced mental illness. The family was contacted.

On August 28, a local business reported the theft of a license plate. The plate was entered as stolen. 

On August 28 Antwerp School requested that an officer go to 511 N. Main St. to verify if anyone was residing in apartment 104. An officer responded and determined the tenant had moved out. 

On August 29, a domestic dispute was reported on Main St. A report was prepared and the report forwarded to the Paulding County Prosecutor. 

On August 29, a resident reported a theft. The case was investigated and forwarded to the Paulding County Prosecutor. 

On August 29, the school resource officer asked that the police department assist in notifying the parents that they had a sick child. The officer went to the resident on S. Main St. and notified the mother.

On August 29, a report was received in reference to a possible accident in the village over the weekend with one of the occupants receiving injuries. It was determined the incident occurred outside the village.
