Archers win Paulding County battle

In a contest between Paulding County rivals, it was the Antwerp Archers who recorded a 4-1 win over visiting Paulding in Green Meadows Conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers struck first, scoring once in the opening frame, but Paulding would not score again. Meanwhile, Antwerp tied the game with a single run in the fourth and took the lead with another run in the fifth to make it 2-1.

In the sixth, the blue and white extended the margin to 4-1 with a pair of runs.

Ethan Lichty recorded the victory on the mound for Antwerp, scattering four hits and one walk while striking out eight Panther hitters.

Parker Moore posted two singles with a run scored and a run batted in for Antwerp while Carson Altimus added a single and a triple while scoring once and driving in one.

Ethan Lichty singled and finished with a run batted in and Eli Reinhart doubled and scored. Derek Hines doubled as well for the Archers with Kane Hines scoring a run.

Casey Agler recorded two singles for Paulding with Kane Jones and Nick Manz adding a single each. Jones scored the lone Panther run with Ethan Foltz posting the run batted in.

Foltz suffered the loss on the mound, giving up six hits, four runs (two earned) and two walks while striking out a dozen Antwerp hitters in 5-2/3 innings.
