What’s Happening at Your Library in May

The Paulding County Carnegie Library is ready for spring and planning for the 2023 Summer Reading Program. Early registration starts May 22. The Summer Reading Program will run from June 5 to August 5. Summer Reading is for all ages, children to adults. The library will be closed Monday May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. In remembrance for those that fought for our freedom. Remember with your library card you have access to Hoopla and Overdrive. 

Main Branch

The Main Branch has Coffee Talk every Thursday at 1, May 4th is our special “Coronation Day” come in and be treated like royalty! Cookbook club is May 15 at 5:30p.m., this month is “something made from fresh produce”. Bring a prepared dish and the printed recipe. All month long is Rock Painting, paint a rock and hide it. If you find one, keep it or re-hide it. Everyday 10a.m.-6p.m.. Making t-shirt bags, we are doing our part to reduce, reuse and recycle! M-W-F from 10a.m.-6p.m.. Cricut projects starting May 15th. Stop by to check out our project every Tuesday and Thursday between 2 and 6p.m..  Watch Facebook or call for upcoming programs like Granny’s Kitchen: cooking in the good old days.  Grandmas Ali’s Kitchen Swap: trade something you don’t want for something you do! 

The Children’s Room is preparing for a lot of fun this month. Stop by for Story time on Wednesdays at 11a.m. and 1:30p.m.. Fun and craft every Wednesday. The week of May 8 through May 13 come in and make a Mother’s Day card for your special mom or grandmother. 

Antwerp Branch

The Antwerp Branch Book Club will meet on Monday May 8th at 6p.m.. Cookbook Club is on Monday, May 15th at 5:45p.m.. Week of May 8th-13th Mother’s Day Make and Take for all ages during library hours. Flower Hunt all month long inside the library! Come in and find the flowers and WIN a prize. Bread classes are held each month, call 419-258-2855 to register.

Grover Hill Branch

The Grover Hill Branch will start the month by signing up for the monthly drawing each time you visit the branch. Thursday, May 4 we will be welcoming Crystal-Clear Intentions-Carrie Lero, Reiki Master. She will be doing a 101 presentation on Mediation, Reiki and different healing modalities. Carrie loves to teach people about the vibrations of crystals and singing bowls. Munchkin club story time s will be Monday May 8 with Tea Rex and May22nd at 10:30a.m. This program is designed for ages 6 and under. The second Thursday of the month is always scheduled for Senior Bingo. On May 11th, seniors age 50+ are invited to an Afternoon Tea at 1p.m..  A light lunch, and of course different varieties of tea will be on the menu followed by a few games of Bingo. The last Wednesday of the month, May 31st, GHBL Book Club will meet at 4 to discuss the novel “Mother May I” by Joshilyn Jackson. And the monthly drawing winner will also be awarded on the last day of May.

Oakwood Branch

The Oakwood Branch will be hosting an adult embroidery class Monday, May 1, 4-6p.m.. We will be embroidering kitchen towels. The week of May 8th we will have Mother’s Day card kits to make. Tuesday, May 9 we will be hosting our Good Morning book club 11a.m.-12p.m.. Wednesday, May 10 from1-2p.m. will be our monthly Coffee Talk. May 11 is Senior Bingo hosted by the Meadows of Kalida at 11:30a.m.. May 18 will be having a no waste kitchen class. Come in and learn how to make a natural all-purpose cleaner and can some oranges. On May 25th we will be doing a preteen and teen bath bomb class 5-6p.m.. Tuesday, May 30 we will have our monthly quilt block class from 1-3p.m.. Come in and learn to make a different quilt block each month. Monday May 8 and 22 will be our kids story time at 11a.m.. All classes require sign up.

Payne Branch 

The Payne Branch will be making “Clay Handprint Bowls” on May 11. Kids can make one for their mom for Mother’s Day. Signing up is required for this event and those under the age of 8 needs a parent to assist with the bowl. May 22 the branch is offering an Adult Canvas Painting class starting at 1. No sign-up is required, and we provide the materials. Story time is every Tuesday at 11a.m.. Come for a story and make a craft. Coffee Talk is every Wednesday 1-2p.m. Bring a friend and join us for engaging topics over a cup of coffee.

Friends of the Paulding Library will meet Monday, May 8th at 6 in the library to discuss May happenings at Main. Buy the Book used bookstore is having “National Library Week” 4/23 to 4/28 gift basket drawing on April 29th. Sign up at the bookstore now! No purchase is necessary to win.  

Black Swamp Bookworms will meet Monday, May 8th at 6:30 in the library. We are reading “An Invisible Thread” by Laura Schroff. Call 419-399-2032 to reserve your copy soon. Everyone is welcome to join us.
