ANTWERP, OH:
Larry Gene Copsey, 81, of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Larry was born in Paulding, Ohio on July 5, 1941, son of the late Dorothy Mae (Ream) and Earl “Pete” Copsey.
Larry learned to play drums at Payne High School. As a young man he continued playing drums, bowling, golfing, and dancing, earning the nickname, “Crazy Legs.” On February 12, 1988, Larry married Joyce (Messman). For years they traveled the NASCAR circuit together. Larry’s love for automobiles brought him to develop and grow the Big Boy$ Toy$ car show for many years in Antwerp. Larry went on to work 16 years for the Ft Wayne Auto Auction after retirement from Dana Weatherhead in Antwerp. In his free time, he could be found rooting on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Antwerp Archers.
Larry will be sadly missed by his wife, Joyce; children, Tim (Brenda) Copsey and Larry “Joe” Copsey; stepdaughter, Kris Williamson; siblings, Duane (Vivian) Copsey & Linda (Steve) Holt; 11 grandchildren; & 10 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” (Pat) Copsey & stepdaughter, Robin Eagleson.
Viewing is Friday March 31, 2023, from 4-7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W River St, Antwerp Ohio 45813.
Service is Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM with viewing one hour prior.
Larry will be laid to rest in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne.
Memorials are to the Antwerp EMS or the K-9 Fund for the Paulding County Sheriff Dept.
