Antwerp Police Department Reports

On February 1, Antwerp Police Department was contacted in reference to a case that had occurred in 1936. Allegedly, there was a man by the name of Ralph Brattain that had been run over in an alley in the Village of Antwerp. That individual later died at a hospital as a result. The caller was requesting if the department had any details in reference to that situation.

February 2, officers were called to North Garden Apartment in reference to a domestic dispute. Office responded and determined nothing physical had occurred. A report was prepared for the prosecutor’s office. 

February 2, Antwerp Police Department was contacted in reference to a vehicle left in a parking lot adjacent to 102 W. River for several weeks. The vehicle was deemed inoperable, no valid registration and the vehicle was towed. 

February 2, Antwerp Police Department received an alarm on S. Main. An officer arrived and found everything was secured. 

February 5, Antwerp Police Department was contacted in reference to a 7 month old baby that had been physically assaulted by an adult male. The baby was referred to the hospital for evaluation. An investigation was conducted and as a result the male was arrested and transported to jail.

February 6, an officer observed a vehicle failed to stop at the traffic light in the center of town. The driver was cited for a red light violation and driving without a license.

February 8, a resident of Woodland complained of a person going door to door selling roofs. The officer was unable to locate anyone. 

February 9, Antwerp Police Department assisted Antwerp EMS at Park Avenue Villas in reference to a person who had fallen.

February 10, an officer was requested to do a welfare check on someone on Mervin St. The officer responded and found everything okay.

February 10, an officer was called in reference to juveniles going door to door attempting to collect money. The officer located the juveniles and parents were contacted.

February 10, an officer was contacted in reference to a complaint alleging a mother of 3 children has car seats in vehicle, but they are not strapped in, photos were provided. The complaint was forwarded to human services in addition to the officer investigating.

February 10, Antwerp Police Department was contacted in reference to a resident of North Garden Apartments being abusive to her cats. The officer contacted the individuals and spoke to them about not being mean to their cats.

February 11, an officer was contacted in reference to open burning on Buffalo and Erie. The officer responded and spoke with them and they put the fire out.

February 11, an officer was called to 102 Shaffer Rd in reference to unlocking a vehicle. 

February 12, an officer was contacted and requested to do a welfare check on a child who was with the mother at North Garden Apartment. Officer responded and found the child to be okay.

February 14, the mayor received a call about open burning on Buffalo St. Officer responded and found there was no open burning.

February 14, an officer was called to Garcha Mart south of town in reference to two people arguing. The officer spoke with the female and she stated her boyfriend got out of the vehicle and started walking and she was going to Ft. Wayne. The officer located the boyfriend and provided transportation to Loves.

February 14, officers were called to a residence on W Canal St in reference to a domestic dispute. Officer arrived and spoke with both individuals and found nothing physical had occurred. One of the individuals agreed to leave for the night.

February 14, a resident of River St reported they were receiving threats from a family member. The officer spoke with both individuals and prepared a report.

February 14,  the manager of Mercer Landmark reported there was a 4 wheeler in parking lot doing damage The officer responded and located the juvenile at home. The officer spoke with the juvenile and parent. A report was prepared. 

February 14, an officer assisted an employee at human services in reference to going to a residence on alleged child neglect.

February 14, an officer was asked to go to the Antwerp Post Office in reference to a customer that had been in there and was being belligerent. The officer spoke with employees and a report was made.
