Cadets Get Past Warriors in Sectional Play

WOODBURN – Concordia scored in every quarter and went on to post a 27-22 victory over Woodlan Friday night in Class 3A, Sectional 27 football action outside of Woodburn.

The Cadets led 7-6 at the end of one period before Concordia widened the margin to 14-6 at the intermission.

Both teams scored in the third quarter as the Warriors trimmed the deficit to 21-14 entering the final stanza. However, each team found the endzone again in the fourth quarter with the Cadets recording the 27-22 win.

Eli Mattox completed 12 of 24 passes for 159 yards with a pair of touchdowns and Landon Kaschinske ran for 314 yards on 31 carries, including two touchdowns, to lead the Cadets.

Maddux Wright and Noah Trent both had a trio of receptions with Henry Scruggs and Kaschinske each picking up two catches.

James Rusher recorded ten tackles to lead Concordia while Avery Cook and Tyler Moher picked up six stops. Jacob Levitt also had five tackles for the Cadets with Tunmise Okeowo and Grant Hayworth getting four apiece.

For Woodlan, Jayse Kuntz totaled 11 tackles and Jake Roemer picked up eight tackles. Jack Culler and Chase Bennett finished with seven stops apiece while Nolan Metz, Ethan Vardaman and Grant Frecker all had four tackles.

Ty Louden threw for 56 yards, completing 5 of 14 passes in the contest, and one touchdown. 

Jacob Snyder and Nolan Metz both hauled in two receptions apiece with Drew Fleek and Janessa Gerig getting one each.

Fleek ran for 86 yards overall on 14 carries with two going for touchdowns while Snyder added 67 yards rushing on 11 attempts.

Woodlan finishes the season with an overall record of 4-6 while the Warriors were 2-4 in the ACAC.
