On September 28th, the Paulding FFA Officer Team kicked off their youth program at Oakwood Elementary. Oakwood Youth for Ag (OYA) is a hands-on learning experience for the sixth graders that helps expand their views on agriculture.

There will be two FFA officers going over to Oakwood each month to teach the students about an agriculture topic each month. Some of the future topics they will be talking about include Livestock, Greenhouse, and Ag Mechanics. This program was started by Paulding FFA members Jamy Hunt and Brooke Kilgore.

Both being Oakwood Alumni, they wanted to create a program that gave opportunities to the younger generations, deepen the kids’ understanding of agriculture, and give back to their home school. This is a great opportunity for the sixth graders at Oakwood since most of them do not know or hear about FFA until they get to Paulding as seventh graders.

This program will help them get a better understanding of the FFA and Agriculture program at Paulding. The goal is that this program will encourage them to sign up for 8th Grade Ag class once they become eighth graders. They are super excited and grateful for the opportunity to host this program and can’t wait for an awesome year!

The Paulding FFA Officer team want to recognize the Paulding FFA Alumni for the financial support of this program for our youth!
