Cole Macedo is having the best season of his young career, and put another exclamation point on it Saturday evening at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway near Orrville, Ohio. The Lemoore, California ace led all 35 laps of the $15,000-to-win Pete Jacobs Memorial, earning his largest payday in the process and his 12th overall victory of 2022 and second at WCS. Sprint Car Hall of Famer and 2018 Pete Jacobs winner Tim Shaffer dogged Macedo’s car the entire distance before claiming the $6,000 second place payday while local favorite Trey Jacobs thrilled his hometown crowd by charging to third from his 24th starting slot. If it would’ve been a 40-lap event the outcome might have been a little different. The 305 Sprint car victory went to Sandusky’s Brian Sebetto. He was awarded $1,100.00 to win. The 25-lap main event featured many of the Attica-Fremont Speedway’s regulars. Tyler Shullick and Jimmy McGrath rounded out the top three.

To be successful you must work harder than the people competing against you and this summer Oakshade Raceway’s Dominator Super Stock track champion, Kolin Schilt has proven this several times. This past week Schilt added another first-time accomplishment by earning the $1,000 Papa Boiler Dominator Super Stock Spectacular win. Those in attendance saw Adam Lantz cross the finish line first in the feature, but due to a post-race inspection protocol violation Lantz would be stripped of the win. Kolin Schilt was awarded the win. Last year’s winner, Gabe Mueller, finished second followed by Jordan Conover. Next up was the DIRTcar UMP Late Model feature with Eric Spangler from Lake City, Michigan, starting on the pole. Spangler took the lead and drove away from the rest of the field. Casey Noonan tried to mount challenges several times but settled for 2nd and behind him was Dona Marcoullier, Devin Shiels, and Rusty Smith. Rusty Smith doing double duty won the Sportsman feature in a hard-fought race. Jeff Robertson was a close 2nd, followed by Last week’s feature winner, 11-year-old Carter Schlenk. Kaleb Hinkley started on the pole of the Compact A-Main but had to fight off Jason Deshler the entire feature. Deshler had to settle for 2nd. Last week’s feature winner Eric Carr drove to a third-place finish. Oakshade Raceway will wrap up the 2022 season this Saturday night.

As we go to press Gas City I-69 Speedway is hosting the annual James Dean Classic for USAC Midgets and Sprints Thursday, September 22nd and then the cars head to Eldora for shows Friday and Saturday. The annual 4 Crown Nationals will feature the USAC Midgets Friday night along with the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars. Saturday it’s an all USAC show, with the Midgets, Sprints, and the Sliver Crown Cars. I will cover it all right here. What I can’t cover here you can find on my Ohio Sports Blitz Facebook page, along with pictures. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron Out! ohiosportsblitz@yahoo.com
