Here’s an update for the 360 Sprint Invaders and the Great Lakes Sprint Series. On April 25th, it was announced that the Ohio Logistics NRA Sprint Series would be taken over by the GLSS owner Barry Marlow. This united the Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan 360 Sprint Car teams. Barry recently told me, “This has helped to provide solid car counts with both the NRA and GLSS this season”. He’s hopes next year to have as many as 45, 360-Winged Sprint shows from Northern Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. This could possibly include a 360 Sprint Week and potentially a big 360 Show at Eldora. I personally like the groups merging. This will provide more racing opportunities for the 360 Sprint drivers and car owners. Currently the Sprint Invaders run almost weekly at Limaland Raceway Park on Fridays and still will on a regular basis. The Great Lakes Sprint Series race events every weekend. The drivers/car owners that can’t run the series can still race for local track points, but the series gives drivers a chance to win more money than racing locally.

Speaking of Limaland, they’re done for the season. Last Friday was their last race. Are you kidding me? It’s a fantastic small track with good car counts every week in each class. They say it’s due to high school football starting. You have football fans and race fans. Why do you make the racing fans, drivers and car owners suffer? You’re a business. Let the fans decide which sport they want to attend. Keep your track open until October. Congratulations to the 2022 Track Points Champions, UMP Modifieds Todd Sherman and Thunderstock Gabe Mueller.

NASCAR driver Kyle Larson did it again on a short track. Following an early race penalty that docked him a row, Larson went from 5th to 1st in three laps to score his first midget win at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in 11 years during Monday night’s USAC Midget Special Event on pavement. He started in the second row and destroyed the field and won by a halftrack lead over Kyle O’Gara finished 2nd and, Nick Hamilton 3rd.

Around the tri-state this past week. Justin Grant won the USAC Indiana Sprint Week for the first time. At Plymouth Motor Speedway Phil Bozell took the checker and $10,000.00 as he won Grand Slam race No. 3 for the Outlaw Late Models. He had a late race pass to take the victory from Tyler Roahrig who won the first two events in the 4-race series. You can view the race on the track’s web site. At Oakshade Raceway, Rusty Schlenk won the UMP Late Model Feature. Cole Macedo picked up his 2nd 410_Sprint victory at Attica and at Fremont, Craig Mintz led all 30-laps in the 410 Sprint feature. Mike Ordway Jr. won the annual Hy-Miler National at Sandusky Speedway for the IMSA Supermodifieds. Complete racetrack coverage and pictures from all the divisions can be found on the Ohio Sports Blitz Facebook page. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out! ohiosportsblitz@yahoo.com
