EACS Teachers of the Year

KURT DAGER – LEO ELEMENTARY

Grade teaching: 6th Grade

Education: Master’s in Elementary Education Years of teaching: 25 Years

Favorite teaching memory:

I have so many great teaching memories because of all of the students I have been fortunate to have taught. One of my favorite memories is when I went back to the classroom and joined Mr. Diehl at Leo Elementary in the High-Performance Teaming classrooms. We had talked about the concept when we were both working with the technology department, and it has been an amazing experience.

Interesting fact about yourself:

I had never been on an airplane until I turned 18……and the first time I rode in a plane I had to jump out of it from 12,000 ft. (Skydiving was my first experience on an airplane).

DEREK BETHAY – EAST ALLEN UNIVERSITY

Subjects teaching: World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government Education: Indiana Wesleyan University B.S. Psychology 1996,

Favorite teaching memory: I received a note from a student a few years ago that said, “Thank you for noticing when I wasn’t okay. Because of you, I’ve gotten a lot better. I still have a long way to go, but I know there is someone who cares. :-)”

Best note I’ve ever been given.

Interesting fact about yourself: I was the 1996 Senior of the Year at Indiana Wesleyan University.
